Mount Brandon from Fermoyle Beach

The elements of Mount Brandon, & the surrounding landscape, the rock, sediment & growths are pretty amazing. It was a cold day on beach, but the sky light was beautiful. There were many families camped out on the sand, taking it all in and surfing for the day. The children passing by checked out my progress as I painted!

For Christmas 2016, this painting is available to buy from Sheila Considine Fashions, Cabinteely, Co. Dublin, Ireland – at a saving since there is no shipping. The painting is gift boxed ready for Christmas.

This is an oil painting, of Mount Brandon from Fermoyle Beach. It is painted on gessoed ‘Fabriano Tela’ paper, mounted on board. The frame is pine painted muted white. Framed dimensions, 400mm x 320mm x 37mm.

While Fabriano Tela is a specially formulated with an internal size to make it suitable for oil paint, it’s not naturally suitable for painting outdoors. To rain-proof it, the surface is layered with 4 coats of acrylic gesso. This creates a robust membrane.

The Fabriano oil painting paper Tela has an internal and external sizing that offers an ideal absorption for oil colours. It is acid free and archival. The unique paper surface, obtained through a specialized texturing process, creates a surface similar to linen canvas. It is recommended for oil painting techniques.
